 Bathroom Information

Bathroom is basically a room with facilities for taking a bath or a shower. Bathrooms usually contain a sink and a toilet. The word bathroom means “a room with a bath”. The more general definition is “a room where one baths”, because the traditional bath tubs have been replaced by modern showers and steam showers. A bathroom may contain just a shower, just a bathtub or both. Bathrooms may also contain a sink, often named as “wash basin” or “hand basin”, and a toilet fixture. In United States, the word “bathroom” commonly means “a room containing a toilet”.

In United States, bathrooms are categorized into three kinds; full bathroom, half (1/2) bathroom and “3/4 bathroom”. A full bathroom necessarily contains toilet, bathtub, shower and sink. Half bathroom contains just a sink and toilet and it is also known as “Powder room”. “3/4 bathroom” contains a sink, shower and a toilet. “3/4 bathroom” are mostly used in US for public toilets.

Bathrooms are constructed at one or many locations of a home. In most homes, a bathroom is directly connected to a bedroom, for convenience. A bathroom connected adjacent to the bedroom is usually known as “attached bathroom”. Attached bathroom is very functional and easy to use at any time and you don’t need to leave your bedroom. In French, the term “en-suite” is used for the attached bathrooms, which factually means “a following”. The bedroom containing an adjacent bathroom is generally called a Master Bedroom. In some homes, one bathroom is connected to two bedrooms. This double room connected bathroom is occasionally referred to as a “Jack and Jill bathroom”.
